Description:

This is an exceptionally nice, like new M1D Garand sniper rifle, that is accompanied with the original CMP documentation, which is the original serial number data and shipping information on the outside of the shipping box, the box itself and a full compliment of accessories. Most of these rifles were produced by converting standard M1 Garand rifles into a M1D configuration by installing a special M1D Sniper barrel as manufactured at Springfield Armory. These barrels were manufactured from approximately Jan 1952 to Feb 1953 with the conversion done by Springfield Armory. The rifle receiver originally produced in mid WWII, is marked: "U.S. RIFLE/CAL 30 M1/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" over the serial number and the right side of the receiver leg is marked 'TE-12-68' indicating rebuilt at Tooele Army Depot. The right side of the GI M1D barrel is marked "SA-10-52". The remaining parts are marked as follows; the operating rod is marked "D6535382 SA", the trigger housing is marked D28290-18SA, the hammer is marked C46008-5-SA, the trigger guard. It is fitted with a birch and walnut hand guard set with a walnut stock that is marked with a boxed 'SA over W', and a boxed RIA/EB cartouches on the left side of the buttstock, with three 'P' proofs in the pistol grip area. The rifle is complete with an original, very late production M84 sniper scope that has the correct identification plate marked: 'TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 40573' and it has the correct original GI M1D sniper mount and the rubber eye protector. The scope has a Gov't inspection tag dated 21 Nov 1968. As noted above it is complete with a full compliment or basic issue items as follows; the milled M2, SA marked flash hider, a unmarked leather cheekpiece in the plastic bag with the ID tag/contract number marked 11-67, one GI green canvas sling, one four section cleaning rod with rod handle, patch holder, and wire brush, one chamber brush, one plastic oiler and one green canvas telescope case marked MRT, 7631396. As noted it has the CMP .

Rating Definition:

Excellent as arsenal rebuilt with 99% plus of the GI gray arsenal parkerized finish remaining with no wear on the metal surfaces at all. The Stock and hand guard have been arsenal cleaned during the rebuild process with visible cartouches. The scope also has 99% of the original blue finish with no wear and crystal clear, bright optics. The box is also in excellent condition with all the accessories listed above. The rifle looks like it was rebuilt and put directly into storage.
