Responsible for the procurement and deployment of naval ordnance, the Bureau of Ordnance became an independent bureau in 1862 and was merged with the Bureau of Aeronautics to form the Bureau of Naval Weapons in 1959. U.S.A." and a sign on top of the display area marked "BUREAU OF ORDNANCE AMMUNITION DISPLAY BOARD MK.1 MOD.0 (VISUAL TRAINING AID)". Arranged on the board are 74 rounds of ammunition, including nine cutaways, and 31 dismounted projectiles, mostly cutaways, organized from left to right, starting with 20 MM Navy anti-aircraft, 20mm Army aircraft, Caliber 50, Caliber 30, and ending with "MISCELLANEOUS CALS. AND TYPES", which includes pistol, carbine, and shotgun rounds.
