Description:

Active from 1862 to 1959, the Bureau of Ordnance was responsible for the procurement and deployment of naval ordnance. Mounted in a 36" square gray painted frame is a set of 40mm demonstration shells, with a set of placards marked "BUREAU OF ORDNANCE AMMUNITION DISPLAY BOARD MK.2 MOD.0" and "40 MM AMMUNITION" above and below an assembled shell and casing, the back section of the shell cut away to show the primer section. Arranged on the board are a set of 12 dismounted shells, two of which are cut in half to show the inner composition, with a tag below each shell with codes for purpose, and a third placard with the key for the codes.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with a small discolored spot near the code key placard, and mild wear along the exterior edges of the frame.
