Description:

This is a nice example of a late WWII M1 carbine as manufactured by the Standard Products Company in 1944. They were one of the several manufacturers who produced M1 carbine during WWII. The front receiver ring is marked with the standard 'U.S. CARBINE/M1' markings and the rear ring is marked 'STD. PRO.' over serial number 2173782. The barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/1-44/Shell and Flame Ordnance proof". This example has several of the early features, such as the two position flip rear sight, the type two barrel band with no bayonet lug, the smooth push button safety, and the flat M1style bolt. The hand guard is the two rivet variation and the stock has the low wood, oval cut oiler slot. The stock is marked 'S-HB' in the sling slot. It is complete with one blued magazine marked with a single 'U' on the back side.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 95% of the dark green parkerized finish overall with wear on the front and rear ends of the bolt, the right side of the receiver rail, and the edges and high spots overall. The hand guard has been lightly cleaned and shows a little lighter color overall and the stock has a medium brown color, with light handling marks and minor scratches on the sides of the buttstock area and pistol grip with a small nicely repaired/reglued piece of wood directly on the right side of the recoil plate.
