This is an excellent example of a U.S. contract Remington Model 11 Shotgun manufactured in 1943-44. The shotgun has a dull, military blue finish on the barrel and receiver and is fitted with an oil-finished walnut stock and hand guard. The stock has a brown plastic, serrated buttplate embossed with the Remington logo in a rectangle. The forearm lacks the grasping groove found on commercial and early U.S. contract Model 11 shotguns. The 26-inch round barrel has a brass bead front sight , is chambered for 2 3/4" or shorter shells and is choked improved cylinder. The bolt is bright and marked "MODEL 11" on the side. The upper left side of the receiver is roll-stamped with "U.S." followed by the Ordnance Corps 'Shell and Flame' insignia and "MILITARY FINISH". The Remington logo and the serial number are roll-stamped in three lines on the lower left side of the receiver. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two line Remington legend and patent numbers followed by "U.S." and the "Shell and Flame" insignia. The "REP" proofmark and six point star are stamped on the right side of the barrel and the Remington inspection marks and date code are stamped on the left side. The left side of the stock is stamped with the Ordnance Corp Escutcheon followed by the "FJA" final inspection mark. The U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Navy utilized Model 11 shotguns with full length barrels extensively for aerial gunnery practice during WWII. Length of pull is 14".

Excellent. The shotgun retains 99% of the original blue finish with some minor wear and thinning on the muzzle. There is a small amount of scattered very light spotting. The wood is very good with a couple of small shallow gouges on the left rear of the stock, overall a few minor dings and scratches, and crisp, clear cartouches. The markings are sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. An extremely nice, totally original, Remington U.S. contract Model 11 shotgun.
