This rifle was made in 1941- 1942 based on the Model 1917 rifle and was intended to be an updated modern sporter. Eventually, they were sold to the military and given as trophies, prizes, etc. after WWII. About 2,000 were made for the government and a small number for civilian use. This rifle features a fixed front ramp sight and a sporting rear sight. The barrel has the standard two line address and marked "SPRINGFIELD / 30 CAL. 1906". One piece checkered pistol grip stock and forearm with inspectors marks "FJA" and crossed cannons on the left side of the stock, sling swivel loops and checkered Remington buttplate.

Excellent, with approximately 97% blue finish with gray on some of the high edges and a couple patches of smooth brown patina. The stock is excellent with some scattered minor dings and scratches. The checkering is crisp. The stock markings are clear and crisp.
