This is an example of a late production 1903 Springfield Armory that was assembled into a national match style or configuration rifle. The receiver was made in the early 1930s that has been fitted with a WWII four-groove barrel made by Springfield Armory, and the receiver has been fitted with a Lyman Target rear sight and a pre-war "C" stock. The receiver has the standard markings of: "US/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903/1373166". The WWII production barrel as noted has a four-groove rifled barrel (the best for accuracy) and is marked on the upper end, "SA/Ordnance Shell And Flame/11-42" and the muzzle has been recrowned to improve the accuracy. It has a Lyman 48S Target rear sight with micrometer adjustments for windage and elevation, the standard military tangent rear sight is mounted on the rear of the barrel and it has the standard front sight base and stud that has been fitted with a Lyman bead front sight blade. It has the correct milled components, barrel bands, trigger guard, floor plate, serrated trigger, follower, and heavily checkered National Match buttplate. It is fitted with an earlier bolt that has a single gas hole, that is marked "WL" on the underside of the bolt handle. The bolt and extractor have both been hand polished to give it a silky smooth functioning, during rapid fire. It has an original unmarked pre-war "C" stock, with a small letter "s" in the cutout and a wartime handguard. Both have a nice medium matching brown color with a hand rubbed linseed finish given them a nice sheen. It is complete with a spare milled follower in the butt trap and an unmarked 1907 style leather sling, a metal sling keeper attached and a trigger shoe.

Fine with most of the original dark green parkerized finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear. The re-oiled stock and handguard are both in fine condition with minor handling marks and most of the lightly sanded hand rubbed finish.
