Description:

The blade of the sword is of conventional Japanese design, 33 1/2" long with a wavy hamon and a copper habaki with texture lines. The tsuba is 1 3/8" thick and 5" long, with a raised dragon carving on the outside edge. The hilt and sheath are 21" and 51" long, respectively, assembled from multiple 3-4" segments of ivory, which are entirely covered in elaborate battle scenes and mythological figures.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade shows some light wear and spotting. The tsuba and sheath show repairs, with a few patched areas and some cracking on the ivory sections. Level of detail in the carving is superb.
