Description:

This is a fine example of a late production Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Rifle. The rifle has a blued octagon with full-length magazine. The receiver, hammer and loading lever have a color case-hardened finish. The forearm cap and carbine style buttplate are blued. The stock and forearm are straight grain walnut with a varnish finish. The barrel is fitted with a 'Rocky Mountain' front sight with German silver blade and a sporting style rear sight. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the post 1919 legend: "The Marlin Firearms Corporation / - NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. - PATENTED- " in two lines ahead of the front sight. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "-SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL-" below the rear sight. The caliber, ".32 SPECIAL" is roll-stamped on the left barrel flat just ahead of the receiver. The top of the receiver is roll-stamped "- MARLIN SAFETY-" with stylized arrows on either end of the marking. The upper receiver tang is stamped with the designation "MARLIN/MODEL 93" in two lines. The "5995" is stamped on the lower tang.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain approximately 85% of the original blue finish. There is moderate finish loss and some pitting on the left side of the barrel between the front and rear sights. The forearm cap and buttplate retain about half of the original blue finish. The frame, hammer and loading lever retain 60% of the color case-hardened finish. The case-colors have faded to silver on the bottom of the receiver and loading lever but most of the receiver case colors are strong and well-defined. The markings on the barrel and receiver are sharp. The stock and forearm are in excellent condition and retain most of the original varnish finish with some scattered handling marks. This is a very fine example of a Marlin Model 93 Lever Action Rifle made sometime after 1919.
