Developed in Shanghai and deployed in large numbers in World War II, the Fairbairn-Sykes dagger remained in use with special operations and intelligence outfits well into the 60s and 70s. 6 7/8" double edged spear point blade, sharpened almost the entire length, with "De Oppreso Liber" inscribed on one side of the blade and "U.S. Special Forces" in fancy script on the reverse next to the Special Forces regiment logo. The oval hand guard is marked "WILLIAM/ RODGERS/ SHEFFIELD/ ENGLAND" on one side of the grip, which is darkened ribbed brass with a nut pommel. Black leather sheath, with darkened brass tip and elastic retention band.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue-black, visible brass on the high points, and some scuffing on the sheath.
