A) British Mills Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun

Description:

Single bead front sight on solid rib marked "London -Fine- Twist." Breech end has two silver inlaid bands, with additional silver inlaid bands at the nipples and span only the rib. Light scroll engraved hammers with fish motif. Side plates marked "MILLS", with a light floral engraving. One-piece checkered straight grip stock with a metal forend, silver initial oval, a small compartment to the rear of the initial oval and a metal buttplate with a floral engraved upper tang.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrels have aged to a deep brown patina with some traces of the original Damascus pattern overall. There is some scattered moderate pitting around the nipples and under the barrels at the breech end with scattered light pitting overall. The lower barrel rib behind the lug has separated but still with the gun. The side plates have a smooth gray patina with crisp markings. Remaining surfaces show a deep brown patina with light pitting scattered on the hammers and trigger guard. The wood is good with nicks and chips overall and a repair behind the initial oval. Mechanically good.

Description:

Single brass bead sight on a solid rib marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN, CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL.". 3 inch chambers and extractors. Scroll engraved casehardened action with "PARKER BROS" in banner and hunting dog scenes on each side with game birds on the underside. Double triggers. Checkered splinter forearm and a pistol grip stock with an initial shield behind the upper tang, teardrop flats, hard rubber grip cap and a skeletonized metal buttplate with checkered exposed wood.

Rating Definition:

Good, The barrels retain about half of the original Damascus finish with a deep brown intermixed with a smooth gray patina on the balance. Very light pitting scattered overall with moderate nicks and dings at the breech end. The action has a smooth gray patina with some of the markings appearing shallow, pitting on the fences and a moderate ding on the underside of the receiver. The wood is good with the checkering smooth but visible, a crack in the wrist and dings and handling marks overall. Mechanically good

Description:

This shotgun features a single bead sight on a solid rib, with "349" and a crown/G stamped on the left barrel. Smooth straight grip stock with double triggers and wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Refinished, with a smooth artificial brown patina overall. There is some minor flash pitting, along with extensive pitting on the buttplate. The right side of the forearm (near replacement wood barrel wedge) has a minor crack and gouge. Otherwise the stock is very good with some minor dings and scratches. Hammers are loose (but action functions) and the tang screw heads are marred.
