Description:

6 1/8 inch clip point blade, with a 4 inch clip, "N (shield) Y" on the left side of the blade, and "ALEXANDER/ SHEFFIELD" on the left ricasso. Tang is full length, with silver decorative plates flanking the smooth rosewood grips, with the top panels decorated in the style of the American eagle, and the panels at the pommel showing the eagle amid scales of justice, sword, shield and cap. The left grip panel has an oval silver inscription plate. Blades by the same manufacturer with similar markings have been identified as Civil War artifacts, marketed to soldiers from New York.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period cleaned, with some pitting and handling marks on the blade. Silver parts show a bright polished finish overall, with darker color in the lower areas, and the grips are fine, with light handling marks.
