Description:

Produced in England, several Manson knives and swords saw documented use as personal sidearms in the American Civil War. Blade is 7 1/4 inches long with a spear point, unsharpened false edge, "MANSON/ SHEFFIELD" on the left ricasso, and acid etched scrollwork around a banner reading "A SURE DEFENSE" on the left side. German silver oval hand guard, 2 3/20 inches wide, and German silver covering the tang. Grips are smooth horn riveted to the tang, with a silver inscription panel on the left side.

Rating Definition:

Good, some mild pitting is visible on the blade, along with light spotting and handling marks overall. The silver components show unpolished color, with the inscription plate raising off the grip, and some light scratches on the horn.
