Description:

Active through the 19th and 20th Centuries, Wostenholm was one of the top quality exporters of hunting and fighting knives to the American market. Measuring 6 3/4 inches long with a spear point and 3 inch false edge, the blade is extensively marked on the left side, with "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON/ WASHINGTON WORKS/ SHEFFIELD", "THE REAL I*XL KNIFE" in a banner, "THE HUNTERS COMPANION" and "I*XL" on the ricasso. Full tang, with German silver finished cross guards with raised scroll patterns and stag grips with a silver initial shield on the left side. With a green leather covered cardboard sheath, with gold filled impressed scrollwork on either side and silver finished throat and belt stud.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period cleaned, with some light pitting and sharpening marks on the bright blade with a dark gray patina on the tang. Cross guard is very good, with some dents and small areas of exposed metal, and the grip shows a pair of small cracks. Sheath is fair, with loss of material, separation of the seams and discoloration of the metal.
