Description:

George Woodhead & Son was in operation from the 1820s to the 1980s. Blade is 5 5/8 inches in length, with a spear point, 1 inch false edge and "G. WOODHEAD/ 36 HOWARD STREET/ SHEFFIELD" address on the left side. The ricasso is accented on each side with a pair of silver plates. Full length tang with gentle ergonomic contour and a pair of smooth bone grips, with an inscription panel on the right side.

Rating Definition:

Good. Pitting and a few dark spots are visible on the otherwise bright blade, with a brown patina on the tang. Light handling marks present on the silver, which shows a dark aged patina. Grips are very good, with one or two small age cracks and tiny chipping around a few of the rivets.
