Description:

1) M1860 Cavalry Pattern Sword with Scabbard. Makers marking removed from the ricasso, and "US/C.E.W./1864" marked on the other. 2) US Ames M1860 cavalry sword with scabbard. "AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE/MASS" marked on the ricasso, "US/JH/1860" marked on the other. 3) C. Roby M1860 Pattern "USC" marked sword with scabbard.

Rating Definition:

1) Fair as refinished, cleaning and sharpening evidence on the blade, dings on the cutting edge, and pitting throughout. Grip has general wear and cracking. Scabbard has a grey/brown patina and pitting throughout. 2) Fair as refinished, grey patina throughout, spotting and pitting throughout, and dings on the cutting edge. Grip has some leather and most of the metal band absent. Scabbard is refinished with scattered dents and pitting. 3) Good overall, cleaning/sharpening evidence throughout, scattered dings in the cutting edge, and pitting. Grip wire wrap has been repaired. Scabbard is good as refinished, with brown patina and pitting throughout.
