Manufactured in 1869. Top barrel flat is marked with the one line address, "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of frame and "31 CAL" on the left rear trigger guard shoulder. The complete matching serial is marked on the bottom of the barrel, trigger guard, frame and back strap, partial serial number "3744" on the arbor pin and cylinder and "13744" on the wedge. The replacement loading lever is unmarked. The stagecoach holdup scene is roll engraved on the cylinder. Brass pin front and hammer notch rear sights, blue cylinder and barrel, casehardened frame and loading lever assembly, silver trigger guard and back strap, and fitted with a one piece smooth varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 80% bright original blue finish with areas of light cleaning with an abrasive material, dings and scratches around the loading lever screw (both sides). The loading lever retains 75% original case colors. The cylinder and frame have been cleaned bright with flashes of original case colors visible. The cylinder scene is completely visible. Two frame screws are marred a bit. The trigger guard and back strap retain strong amounts of original age darkened silver plating with polished brass on the balance. The markings are clear. The grip is revarnished but fine. The cylinder does not rotate when the hammer is cocked, otherwise the action functions.
