This shotgun features 2 3/4" chambers, chokes that measure full and improved cylinder and ejectors. There is a single bead front sight on a solid rib which is marked "J. PURDEY & SONS AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL" and has a wedge of engraved scrollwork at the breech. The underside of the barrels have "crown/GP/V" and semi-smokeless proofs and the water table has a pair of "crown/V" proofs. The action and side plates have an extensive English scroll and rose engraved motif with the underside of the action marked "J. PURDEY & SONS / LONDON" and both side plates are marked "J. PURDEY & SONS". The English scroll engraving extends to the blued break lever, trigger guard, and forearm hardware. Double triggers and tang mounted safety with "SAFETY" in gold. Mounted with a nicely figured pistol grip stock with checkering on the forearm and grip area, monogrammed buttstock initial oval, and a hard rubber grip cap. The monogram on the initial oval is "SSP". The buttstock is fitted with a solid unmarked recoil pad. Matching serial number on the lower tang, forearm, and both barrels. LOP 15". Complete with a J. Purdey & Sons takedown locking case lined with royal purple felt and a two piece cleaning rod. The inside of the lid has a Purdey & Sons leather label with the markings in gold. The outside of the case has a brass name plate ("S. SOSKI PIROEFF / TAR-VERDE FARMS / GOSHEN ROAD, R.D.I. / NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA").

Fine as period refurbished. The barrels retain 90% of the English blue finish with the balance a smooth plum patina. The rib marking is weak but legible. The trigger guard retains 95% of the blue finish. The action and side plates have a smooth gray patina with an area of dark case colors on the right side plate. The buttstock has some minor handling marks with the overall crisp checkering. The forearm has a couple minor pressure dents, a few minor dings and some small chips missing along the edges. The checkering is finer on the grip area. The engraving is clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent overall.
