Description:

Manufactured in 1861, this revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the full fluted cylinder (Many of these revolvers were shipped to the South which can only be proven with a factory letter not available to describer). These revolvers appear in the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields and back strap heel cut for an attachable shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard and iron back strap. The grips are smooth one piece walnut. The top of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT-" and "COLT'S/PATENT" is stamped on left side of the frame, with the 1860 patent date marked in one of the cylinder flutes. There is a small letter "B" stamped on the bottom of the barrel directly ahead of the loading lever slot and a "G" on the left trigger guard shoulder. All serial numbers match, including wedge and cylinder pin. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 30% plus original blue finish in the protected areas with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The frame has a smooth brown patina with flashes of the original case colors. The trigger guard and back strap retain 90% original silver plating with blistering on the back strap and some exposed brass on the front strap and trigger guard bow. The silver is darkening with age. The grip is very fine with 90% plus original varnish and a few minor pressure dents. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
