Manufactured in early 1941 this is a rare example of a pre-war Model 70 Target Rifle produced in 257 Roberts caliber. Model 70 Target Rifles in 257 Roberts were offered on a limited production basis prior to WWII. The left side of the barrel is marked with the Winchester legend including ".257 ROBERTS" and the right side of the barrel has the two line patent marking. The left receiver wall is marked "WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-". The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Scope/sighting blocks have been mounted to the heavy barrel and receiver. The rifle has a cloverleaf receiver tang, hinged floor plate, serrated trigger, polished bolt numbered to the gun, and pre-war safety. Mounted on a target stock with sling swivels and checkered flat buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus original blue finish showing typical thinning on the bolt and a few minor handing marks. The trigger guard has some scuffing along the edge. The stock is also excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
