Description:

This excellent example of a Colt Single Action Army Revolver was manufactured in 1920. The revolver is complete with a Colt factory letter that describes it as having a blue finish with 7 1/2-inch barrel and caliber .32/20. The letter states that the revolver was shipped to the Tritch Hardware Co., in Denver, Colorado on February 13, 1920. The revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. The frame, loading gate and hammer have a casehardened finish. The two-piece black hard rubber grips are checkered with the Rampant Colt logo embossed in an oval at the top of the grip. The revolver has an oval ejector rod head and late style civilian hammer with border-less knurling on the spur. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the Fourth Style "Elongated Block" one-line address "COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". The caliber, "32 W.C.F." is roll-stamped on the left side of the barrel. The numeral "1" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the receiver. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt "Three-Date/Two-Line" patent markings followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The Rampant Colt has the semi-circular base used from 1913-1920. The back of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "570". The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with a "1" assembler's mark above the "Triangle/VP" Colt proof mark. The full serial number, "338333" is stamped on the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard and on the right side of the trigger guard underneath the grip. The bottom of the back strap is stamped "338/333" in two lines. The rear face of the cylinder is stamped with the partial serial number "33". "338333" is etched on the inside of both grips. All of the serial numbers match.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% of the original blue and casehardened finish. Wear is limited to some very minor edge wear on the muzzle, some faint handling marks on the back strap and some very light turn-marks on the cylinder. The frame, hammer and loading gate have vivid case colors. The frame, trigger guard and back strap screws retain most of the niter blue finish. All of the markings are crisp. The bore is mirror bright. Both grips are excellent plus with minimal handling wear. The action is crisp and functions fine. This is an excellent example of a post World War I production Colt Single Action Army Revolver.
