Description:

Manufactured in 1888, the top of the barrel is marked "COLT PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.", the left side front of the trigger guard is marked "45 CAL" and the serial number is marked on the toe of the back strap. All blue finish, blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with two piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval molded at the tops. Colt manufactured approximately 51,210 Model 1878 revolvers from 1878 to 1905.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 30% plus original blue finish, concentrated mainly in the protected areas of the barrel and ejector housing, and on the frame. The balance of the metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brown and gray patina. The grips are excellent with some minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. There is some play in the cylinder, otherwise the action is fine.
