This two barrel set consists of a 20 and 28 gauge set. The 20 gauge barrels are 28 inches in length and the 28 gauge 26 inches, both have a Bradley ivory bead front and steel Winchester mid bead sights on the matte vent rib marked "CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR JOHN J. HAYES". Both have a 2 1/2 inch wedge of floral scroll engraving on the breech end, Winchester proofed with jeweled flats, lugs, ejectors and breech face, 2 3/4 inch chambers on the 28 gauge, 3 inch on the 20 gauge and both are choked improved cylinder/modified. The latch lug on each is numbered "1", (20 gauge) and "2", (28 gauge). Each has its own extra fancy, full Fluer-de-Lis hand checkered beavertail forearm with ebony forend insert and scroll engraved hardware. The flats are marked with the gauge and chamber length. The interior of the hardware is jeweled, numbered "1" and "2" and the matching serial number is marked on the hardware and the wood. The action features extensive floral scroll with the same pattern on the break lever and trigger guard. Each side of the action features an oval panel with a gold inlaid hunting dog in a field scene, two gold inlaid pheasants in a field scene in a circle on the bottom and the trigger guard has a gold inlaid dogs head. The water table is jeweled, Winchester proofed and marked with "made in U.S.A.", the model and address. Gold single trigger with selector, tang mounted manual safety and mounted with a nicely figured, Fluer-de-Lis checkered walnut pistol grip stock with engraved, gold inlaid wire bordered, gold inlaid "GRAND/AMERICAN" metal grip cap, vented Winchester recoil pad and gold initial oval inscribed "J/J/H". The set is complete in a hard leather Winchester takedown case with leather corner protectors, "J.J.H." embossed leather tag on the lid, Winchester label on the inside of the lid, maroon felt lining and 1 20, 1 28 gauge nickel snap cap. Length of pull is 13 7/8 inches. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number as a Model 21 Grand American, verifies the two barrel set configuration, non-automatic safety, pistol grip stock, sights, Winchester recoil pad, stock dimensions, who it was made for, beavertail forearms, leather case, that inspection started on June 15, 1967 and completed on September 20, 1967.

Excellent plus. The 20 gauge barrel set retains 99% plus original blue finish with a few tiny minor dings. The 28 gauge set retains 99% original blue finish with some mild wear on the muzzles. The shotgun and wood are all near new with only the slightest handling/storage marks. The case is very good with some scuffs and minor corner wear.
