A) Pre-War Smith & Wesson 38/44 Outdoorsman Double Action Revolver

Description:

The barrel is pinned with a fixed Patridge style front and adjustable rear sight and has two line address/patent ending with the 1914 patent marked on top. The left side is marked "SMITH & WESSON" and the caliber designation on the right side. N-style frame with standard frame markings, blue finish, with casehardened humpback hammer and serrated trigger, (both marked "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF."), serrated grip straps and fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver medallions. Complete an original blue two piece box. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number as a 38/44 Outdoorsman, Pre-WWII, 38 caliber, adjustable sight, blue finish, checkered walnut grips, shipped to August J. Chandler, in McFarland, CA care of Dave Cook Sporting Goods Store on January 11, 1940.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% original blue finish with some thinning to gray on the barrel, some slight use and edge wear. Minor light scratching on the barrel and frame. All markings on frame and barrel are crisp. Trigger and hammer retain nearly all their original case color. The wood is also excellent with some light scratches and handling marks with crisp checkering. Action is fine. Box is very good.



B) Smith & Wesson Pre-War 38 Military & Police Model of 1905 Fourth Change Double Action Revolver

Description:

Manufactured in 1941. Blade front sight and square notch rear sight with standard markings. The 5 screw frame is marked with a large Smith & Wesson logo with "Made IN U.S.A." with a casehardened serrated trigger and checkered hammer fitted with checkered walnut grips with blue smooth grip straps and a butt swivel. The factory letter verifies the serial number, 4 inch barrel, blue finish, butt swivel, checkered walnut grips and that it was shipped from the Smith & Wesson factory on April 25, 1941 and delivered to H&D Folsom Arms Co, New York City, NY. Complete with a correct original two-piece factory box.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% original blue finish with some muzzle wear, ejector and edge wear from normal usage, and minor handling marks. The trigger and hammer retain almost all of their original case color. The grips are very good with some moderate wear on the right panel and minor handling marks. The box is good with some paper flaked on the edges and separated corners on the lid. Action is excellent.
