Description:

This is a scarce three digit serialized example of an original WWI "first Issue/altered" 1906 German Navy issue Luger. These first issue pistols are super rare as most were destroyed after WWI or at least modified/reworked to comply with the Versailles treaty. This example of a first issue altered, has the safety markings of "GESICHERT" remarked in the upper position, with the lower area being slightly milled/polished out. The right side of the barrel extension is correctly unmarked with the left side bearing a small crown proof along side a double Crown over "M" Naval proof. The underside of the barrel also has a single correct "Crown/M" Naval proof over the serial number. The front toggle is correctly marked "DWM". It has the standard extractor markings. It has the characteristic six-inch Navy barrel, two-position rear sight, grip safety and correct Navy type magazine with the wooden base with concentric circles on the side. The partial serial number "05" is correctly stamped on all the various small parts except the magazine, with the full serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame. The rear grip strap is marked "W.K./1329", which indicates that this pistol was issued at the Wilhelmshaven depot at Kiel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the blued finish with wear on the edges and high spots overall with some old touch up bluing on the muzzle area, center section and underside of the barrel in front of the serial number. The various small parts retain 85% plus of their original straw colors. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. The markings are clear and sharp overall. It has matching numbers on all the various parts except the magazine which is unnumbered as noted above. A very nice example of a scarce first issued/altered 1906 Navy Luger pistol.
