Description:

This is a fantastic example of an ultra rare, experimental Walther Model PP pistol. These are easily identified because they have the extra long (127mm) length barrel and matching long slide, and are finished in a very early, almost experiential/rare dull "hard Chromium" finish, that is very similar to the "Verchromt" finish. There were exactly "six" of these pistols produced with all six being shipped to Glaser in Zurich. All six of these pistol fall into the general serial number range of 779,150-779,160 with only two pistols identified, this specific pistol, serial number "779153" and a second pistol serial number 779,150, both are noted and described on page 106/107 of the book "Walther Volume II" by Jim Rankin. It was rumored that a third example was identified in the Netherlands in the late 1980s however it has never officially surfaced. In addition, this specific pistol is also fitted with an ultra rare "BOHLER-STAHL ANTINIT" marked barrel. These barrel are actually a mix of steel and stainless and should really be considered as a forerunner to the all stainless steel barrel, as produced later on. If those features weren't enough this specific pistol also features a gold plated trigger with a checkered face, a hand checkered front and rear back straps with a heat blued rear sight and a "Radium" insert in the back side of the front sight. All truly rare/prototype features on a very unique Walther pistol. This pistol has a heat blued, 90 degree safety with the standard "Crown N" commercial proofs on the barrel, slide and frame with the serial number located vertically on the right side behind the trigger, with a barely readable, matching serial number, correctly scratched on the inside of the slide. The right side of the slide may have had a special marking of some type, (maybe a retailers name) that was below the ejection port, however that was milled off/out at the Walther factory as the dished out area has the same exact matching, dull "hard Chromium" finish as the rest of the pistol. It is fitted with a set of original mottled brown, Walther Banner composition grips and is fitted with an original and correct, dull hard chromium finished, matching finger-rest magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% of the original factory satin hard chrome finish with a few minor bright spots on bottom front of frame and bottom of slide. The grips are also excellent showing very light wear and a crack in the left panel. Mechanically excellent.
