Description:

Original first issue unaltered Navy lugers are very rare as most were destroyed or at least reworked after WWI. This is a first issue altered pistol that was produced in the late "a" block of serial numbers in the 1914 -1916 time frame. This pistol has the characteristic, six-inch, Navy length barrel, two-position (100-200 meter) Navy rear sight, grip safety, stock lug and nickel plated magazine base with concentric circles on the side. The top of the chamber area is blank and the front toggle bears the DWM logo. The left side of the barrel extension has the single "Crown" firing proof next to a double "Crown/M" Navy proof, with both proofs repeated on the underside and left side of the barrel. The extractor is correctly marked "GELADEN" on the left side and the upper safety area has been correctly arsenal/depot marked "GESICHERT" with the lower area having the word "GESICHERT" milled out. It is complete with a correct early issue Navy luger magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body with the wooden base marked with a very faint single "Crown/M" military proof mark with the serial number "5880" running lengthwise. The rear grip strap is unit marked "VA/7". The right frame rail is marked "GERMANY".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall with some old touch up blue finish on the side of the frame and side plate, with thinning/finish loss on the lower back strap and stock lug. The various small parts all retain 35% of their straw colors. The grips are in near excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with some minor handling marks and a couple of light nicks on the right side. This pistol has matching numbers on the various parts except the firing pin which is unnumbered and the magazine as noted above.
