This is an excellent example of a very scarce cutaway P.08 Luger pistol that was most likely produced in the 1939/1940 time frame. (These were also known as "Demonstration models".) This outstanding example has the very early serial number of "98" and has no factory markings except for the "P08" markings on the left side of the frame. These cutaway pistols were all intended as training aids for armorer's and factory personal so that they could see and understand the interface of each and every part. This excellent example has approximately two dozen separate cutaway windows on the pistol showing how everything works. These cutaway windows are almost identical to the Iranian contract pistol, (also being sold in this auction) and would make an excellent pistol to display together. It is correctly numbered in the military manner with each part having the same identical number "98" on each part. It has an all salt blued finish with checkered walnut grips and is accompanied by one late war type four blued, milled Nazi Army magazine. The magazine is marked on the left side "fxo/Eagle 37/P08" with the black plastic base.

Excellent as new with 99% plus of the original blued finish with no apparent wear on any of the metal surfaces. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with minimal handling marks. As noted this very scarce factory cutaway Luger pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine and grips. Just a beautiful example of a super scarce pre-war Mauser cutaway P.08 Luger pistol.
