Description:

According to notes provided by the consignor, these are the medals of Kapitaenleutnant Alfred Eick, Captain of the Nazi U-Boat U-510. Joining the Kriegsmarine in 1937, he spent 3 years with the destroyer force and another 3 serving on U-boats before being given command of 510, which over the course of 4 patrols, including extended operations in the Indian Ocean as a "Monson" (Monsoon) boat. At war's end, U-510 was surrendered to the French, and Eick spent 2 years in captivity, returning to civilian life in 1947. Included in this lot are a U-Boat badge ("SCHWERIN/BERLIN 68" on the rear), Destroyer badge, 2nd and 1st Class Iron Crosses, German Cross in Silver and the Knight's Cross. The 1st Iron Cross and the German Cross both bear inscriptions, "Oblt. Alfred Eick/10.11.Fl. U-176/1.8.1943" on the former and "Kptlt. Alfred Eick/U-510/16.3.1944" on the latter. With a glass topped, blue velvet lined display case.
