Description:

The knives of the State Forest Service (Staatsforstdienst) served as both tools and badges, with ivory and white celluloid grips reserved for senior officials. This example has a 10 inch blade, with oak leaf etching on the spine, etched forest scenes on each side, and the Eickhorn logo on the left ricasso. Hoof shaped quillion, clamshell languet and ivory grips with 3 acorns on each panel. Black leather sheath, with an acorn shaped frog stud.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade retains most of the etching and has some very light spotting. Two acorns are missing from the grip. The ivory has an attractive aged color and grain. There is an area of green discoloration on the pommel area. The sheath is very good with scuffing on the leather.
