This is a beautiful example of a late production factory engraved Walther PPK semi-automatic pistol. The pistol has been embellished with deep relief chiseled floral and geometric engraved pattern over 60% of the surfaces. The serial number is engraved on the right side of the slide and frame, and there are no proof marks, which further substantiates the originality of this example (as it truly was never completed). The engraving is not the typical oak leaf and acorn pattern normally seen on engraved Nazi pistols. It is however very similar to several of the various special order engraved Walters shown in "Walther Volume II, Engraved, Presentation and Standard Walther Pistols" by Rankin. The engraving covers the flat sides of the slide with the upper radius on the right side, the front grip strap and the sides of the exposed frame area. The engraving on the front grip strap and on both sides of the exposed areas directly behind the trigger, is a very nice delicate floral pattern. The engraving on the very front frame extension and upper side areas above the trigger guard bow and on the rear of the frame have a nice geometric pattern. The pistol was probably pulled directly from the production line and sent to one of the engravers employed by the Walther factory. The metal surfaces were then polished, engraved and have remained completely in the white. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line Walther factory marking. 60 degree safety, Walther marked magazine and fitted with the late production one-piece black checkered plastic grips with the reinforced metal strap on the back sides.

Excellent overall. There is some extremely minor pitting present on the edges of the frame. The markings are clear and distinct and the engraving is also sharp and detailed. The grips are also excellent. Action is fine. Overall this is an exceptionally nice late WWII factory engraved Walther pistol.
