Description:

U.S. contract Colt Model 1911 automatic pistol manufactured in June 1918. The pistol has the WWI brush blue finish with blue barrel, checkered walnut grips and a two-tone flat base magazine. The pistol has the correct long hammer with rounded rear edge, mid-1918 style safety lock and slide with the new-style recoil spring housing. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped with the serial number, "No 362251" behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" in front of the trigger guard. The Type I "Eagle Head/S16" Ordnance final inspection mark adopted in May 1918 is stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. An "H" provisional inspection mark is stamped on the top of the frame above the disconnector hole and a "G" government contract mark is stamped to the right of the hole. A "H" provisional inspection mark is stamped on the back of the slide above the firing pin stop. The right side of the slide is roll stamped "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" in the 7/64-inch block letters adopted about serial number 260,000. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in two lines followed by the Rampant Colt trademark and the two-line Hartford address. The barrel chamber is stamped with the conjoined "H" provisional inspection stamp and "P" proof mark adopted around serial number 400,000. A "S" inspection mark is stamped on the underside of the barrel directly in front of the lug.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The frame, slide and small components retain nearly 95% of the wartime brush blue finish. There are several small handling marks and small areas of finish loss on the upper right side of the slide. The blue finish on the mainspring housing shows some minor handling wear. The markings on the slide and frame are crisp. The refinished barrel is a replacement from a later Colt Model 1911 pistol and has a bright bore and sharp markings on the top of the chamber. The replacement grips and refinished screws are in fine condition. The two-tone magazine has been professionally refinished to near new condition. This is a good looking example of a mid-1918 production Colt Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol
