Manufactured in 1912, this pistol is one of 500 pistols shipped to the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois November 7, 1912. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1911 patent dates and address with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is remarked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and has the circle "WGP" inspection mark of Major Walter G. Penfield above the magazine release. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY", with the serial number on the right side of the frame behind the slide stop. The top of the barrel chamber is marked with an "H" and "P". Smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and wide spur hammer. Standard lower profile fixed sights, with the early variation rounded rear sight, lanyard loop on the heel, two tone unmarked magazine with lanyard loop on the bottom and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws. Comes with a 1914 dated, "US" embossed swivel flap holster with "E4 FA" and "22" on the flap, with tie down strap, a tan canvas "R.H. LONG/9 --18" marked double magazine pouch, with two unmarked 45 caliber magazines and an OD green canvas 1927 cavalry lanyard.

Very good as partially refinished/remarked. The pistol retains 70% original blue finish with a cold blue touch-up on the left side of the frame where the U.S. property marking was removed and than crudely remarked. There is still some evidence of the grid marks in that area. The grip straps, trigger guard and underside of the frame had a smooth brown and gray patina. The front and rear edges of the slide have some small dings, and overall there are a few minor scratches. The grips are also good with a few minor chips and bruises in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The holster is good showing some flex wear and some moderate cracking, the magazine pouch and lanyard are very good.
