Description:

This is one of 6,000 model 1915 bolo bayonets manufactured by Springfield Armory and it has been speculated that approximately 50 of these bayonets have survived. OAL 21 inches, 15 3/4 inch blade. There is also a hole drilled through the tang vertically for the scabbard locking mechanism, which is missing, and another into the bottom of the tang for the rifle locking mechanism, also missing. The grip has the correct eagle beak hook on the pommel and the roughly grooved scales are attached with a single screw.

Rating Definition:

Good. The blade shows light to moderate pitting with a heavy patch near the base on the right side. The blade markings have been ground off. The hilt and cross guard have a smooth blue-brown patina. A long sliver of wood is missing from the right scale.
