Description:

The New York militia purchased this pistol from the English Depot in New York in 1805 for the Dutchess County Militia then commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Commandant Barnabas Carver. This pistol is marked "DC" for Dutchess County Militia and New York Carver's 61st Regiment. "DC" is stamped on the left stock flat and "M/N.Y.C./61" is marked on the trigger guard. The number "14" is stamped on the grip cap and hammer and a crown/14 is stamped on the barrel tang. The Tower lock plate has the large crown/GR. A pair of British proofs are stamped on the left rear side of the barrel. The stock has brass furniture and there is an iron swivel ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel and action have a mottled brown patina. The brass has an untouched dark aged patina overall. Some material is missing from the frizzen. The stock is fair as repaired with a few missing minor chips, a few large dents, and a number of minor pressure dents and scratches.
