An interesting non-regulation item, fitted with a 1840 Heavy Cavalry style hilt and equipped with a single fuller, 35 3/4 inch blade, decorated with an etched field on each side, with the markings "WARRANTED TO CUT WROUGHT IRON" in the right fuller and "TIFFANY & Co/NEW YORK" on the left ricasso. Gilt finished 2-branch guard, with floral wreath designs on the helmet pommel and copper wire wrap on the sharkskin grip. With an enlisted pattern iron scabbard with dual suspension rings.

Very good, with some minor spotting on the fine blade, which shows a strong, well detailed etching and an unmarred edge. Over 80% of the gilt finish remains on the guard, with mild wear on the wrap. Scabbard is good, with a throat screw missing and spotting and mild dings and scratches.
