Description:

This is an excellent example of a unique miniature duck call carved by Charles Perdew (1874-1963). Charles Perdew was the best known and most prolific decoy carver on the Illinois River, having carved thousands of decoys over a 60 year career. He also made wooden birdcalls for duck and crow hunters. His common calls were made from red cedar turned on a lathe with decorative rings around the barrel and reinforced with German silver bands. This piece is made from red cedar with the decorative turned rings and German silver reinforcing bands. Around one end of the barrel is stamped "CHAS. H. PERDEW, HENRY, ILI".

Rating Definition:

Excellent.
