Description:

5-gallon Colfax Bottling Works Colfax, Iowa with Cobalt stencil. This large 5 gallon ceramic jug circa 1880s has a salt glazing style upper finish giving a pleasing two tone appearance, and is marked with a raised stenciled advertising in cobalt blue "COLFAX BOTTLING WORKS" in an arch over "COLFAX,/IOWA." The size marking "5" is carved on the top near the spout. Measures 15 1/2 inches high with an approximate diameter of 12 1/2 inches.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with only the natural imperfections from manufacture.
