Description:

This is a pleasing pair of circa late 1800s beehive style Red Wing ceramic jugs with the desirable liquor advertising print. 1) One gallon jug with a smooth gloss glaze marked in black printing "KUMMEROW & MENGE/WHOLESALE/LIQUOR DEALERS/81 SOUTH MAIN ST./FOND DU LAC, WISCONSIN." in a boxed border. Measures 8 3/4 inches high and 7 3/4 inches in diameter. 2) An approximate 1/2 gallon jug with a gloss glaze marked in black printing "HIGGINS, ASKE CO./The Three Orphans' Saloon/NORTH BRIDGE, MOORHEAD, MINN." in an oval border. Measures 7 1/4 inches high and 6 inches in diameter.

Rating Definition:

1) Excellent with a pleasing light tan/off white color and clear printing, no flaws other than the natural imperfections of manufacture.2) Good, with a stable hairline crack which runs half way around the base and another most of the way across the bottom, with one tiny chip on the bottom edge. Sharp and clear printed advertising.
