Description:

This a very nice example of an original late 1944 production Remington-Rand production Model 1911A1 pistol. These pistols were the standard service pistol throughout WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The left side of the slide is marked "REMINGTON RAND INC. /SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and "P" on top ahead of the rear sight. The right side of the frame is stamped with a faint Ordnance Corps cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number (1361204) and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with "FJA" the inspector mark for Frank J. Atwood's with a "P" below the magazine release. It has the late WWII parts such as the checkered stamped trigger, thin hammer spur, checkered thumb safety, and slide catch, serrated mainspring housing and Keyes Fibre grips with reinforcement ring around the screw holes. It is fitted with a blue barrel and a blue magazine marked "L" on the lip. This pistol is complete with an original Granton & Knight WWII leather holster, a commercial green web belt with an original WWII plastic water-proof storage bag, of the type used on the D-Day landing.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 70% plus of the original wartime parkerized finish remaining, showing even honest wear overall. The grips are also in very fine condition. The holster is in good plus condition with clear markings and tight stitching with the face of the leather having worn even on the entire holster. A solid representative example of a WWII Model 1911A1 pistol.
