Description:

Manufactured in 1985, this is an early Third Model Klay/Colt and is 1 of only 50 engraved models. The revolver is beautifully engraved in Gustave Young style with floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the rear upper barrel flats, loading lever pivot, frame, back strap and trigger guard. The hammer has Young's distinctive wolf's head design. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York City address and the cylinder has the Texas naval battle scene. Blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated trigger guard and back strap and casehardened remaining parts. Fitted with a replacement one-piece checkered ivory grip. Complete in a wooden case with "WFW" inscribed brass plaque on the lid and maroon velvet lining with a reproduction flask, two cavity bullet mold, nipple wrench/screwdriver and 250 count Eley Bros. cap tin, (partially full). Also included are the shipping box for the case, a maroon Colt Heritage box and form letters from Colt and Klay Associates Inc.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus with 99% of the original blue finish with a very, very minor cylinder drag line just starting to show in a couple of places. The blue finish on these areas is still intact, however they cylinder may have been turned a couple of times. Also the barrel ding is more of a very, very minor, pin-prick type factory spot on the left side of the barrel that didn't get polished out. The silver has darkened with age. The grip is good with 4 minor cracks, 2 extending from the top to the bottom and a few hairline age cracks on the bottom. The case has been refinished and remains very good with a couple of minor scuffs. The lining has faded and shows a couple of areas of minor contact wear. The accessories are all excellent.
