Manufactured in 1890, this Third Model production features the dust cover guide rail integral to the top of the receiver and dust cover has the serrated finger grip on the rear. Blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL. 1873" flanked by the decorative foliate design, the serial number is at the rear of the lower tang and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL.". Full length magazine, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate with buttstock compartment, (cleaning rod not included).

Fine. The rifle retains 50% original thinning blue finish which has faded to a plum patina. The is some minor spotting on the barrel, magazine and receiver. The hammer, lever and buttplate have a smooth dark patina. The wood is very fine with most original varnish remaining and showing some scattered minor dents and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
