Manufactured in 1901. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and next to it on the left upper flat is marked "-PAT. OCT 14. 1884. JAN. 20. 1885.-". The top barrel flat at the breech is marked with the Winchester oval proof followed by "38-56 W.C.F." and the top of the receiver at the breech is also marked with the Winchester oval proof. The serial number is marked on the lower tang behind the lever. Combination folding globe front and adjustable buck horn rear sights, and a short range tang mounted peep sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate. Comes with two RCBS 38-56 dies.

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 70% original thinning blue finish with edge wear and areas giving way to a smooth plum patina. The receiver has a smooth mottled grayish brown patina with traces of original blue finish in protected areas. The loading gate assembly retains half of the original blue finish (20% mixed with smooth gray patina on the loading gate). The hammer and lever have a smooth gray patina with flashes of original case colors in the protected areas. The wood is very good with almost all of the original varnish remaining and showing some scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
