The Winchester oval proof is stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three line model, make and trademark information and a saddle ring stud with ring is mounted on the left side of the frame. It has a full tubular magazine, smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate. Accompanied by a letter from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives dated October 24, 1979 listing this carbine by serial number as one of two carbines being removed from the NFA (National Firearms Act) and classified as a curio and relic. There is also a miniature copy of the letter attached to the lever.

Rating Definition:

Good. The carbine retains traces of original blue finish concentrated in the protected areas with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The revarnished wood is good with a few minor chips at the barrel band and overall some minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
