Description:

Manufactured 1863 and was among the approximately 24,000 revolvers converted to 38 Centerfire cartridge. This example has the 4 1/2 inch octagon barrel without an ejector. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York address, the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent dates and "36 CAL." is on the left trigger guard shoulder. The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLTS PATENT/No9078" with "8153" stamped below it. The complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and butt, the wedge is un-numbered and the cylinder pin has the matching partial number "8153". Standard small post front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with a smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% nickel finish remaining showing some edge wear, pin prick type blistering and some scattered flaking. The period revarnished grip is fine with most of the varnish remaining and showing a filled repair on the upper right side, some lower edge wear and scattered minor dings and handling marks. The markings and cylinder scene are clear. The action is fine.
