Description:

Manufactured from 1850-72. Scroll engraved breech, bolster, tang, hammer, lock, accent plate, reverse plate, and trigger guard, with zig-zag border on the buttplate, and starburst finial, which also serves as the escutcheon for the barrel retainer screw. "J. E. EVANS PHILADA" marked barrel. Nicely figured stock.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, showing mild handling marks and spotting. The stock is good, with a crack running from the barrel to the reverse plate, mild dents and varnish loss. Mechanically good.

Introduced in the 1830s. No markings aside from the serial numbers and frame scroll engraving. Fitted with bag shaped grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, traces of original blue around the trigger guard, and scattered spotting and handling marks. The trigger guard is numbered "856", the rest "875". Wood is good, with some light dents. Mechanically very good.
