Description:

Measuring 7 inches in overall length, this dagger is equipped with a 4 1/4 inch leaf shaped double edged blade, etched with a King of Diamonds and 4 aces next to "Four Aces" on the one side, and "R Alldeon/Memphis, Tenn/The Duke" on the reverse with both sides showing a scalloped border along the edges. The T-shaped handle measures 3 3/4 inches long and 1 3/20 inch thick, with a full width steel core and smooth ivory panels, contoured along the front for the middle and ring fingers. With a brass rivet reinforced brown leather sheath. Records place an "R Alldeon" in Memphis, Tennessee circa 1860. Often associated with the riverboat gamblers of the 1800s, push daggers were very popular with anyone in need of a compact and potent defensive weapon.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade remains bright for the most part with some discoloration and some light spotting and handling marks, and well defined etching. The grip section is good, with mild age cracking, attractive grain, and a fine tan/cream coloration. The sheath is good, showing a small amount of stitching loss, some flex cracking and scuffs.
