Description:

1) This boar spear has a fluted steel 11 1/2 inch head. The 67 inch long round wooden shaft has brass studs along the length. 2) This spear has a forged iron 14 1/4 inch head composed of a 7 1/2 inch point with reinforcing ribs and a 6 3/4 inch socket with a turned reinforcing ring at the bottom. The round wooden shaft is 77 inches long and has brass studs spiraling down the entire length. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, the head has a dark aged patina with some minor deformation at the tip. The replacement shaft is good with scattered minor scratches, rub marks and dings overall. A very well designed and executed spear worthy of any collection. 2) Fair, there is a dark brown patina overall with moderate pitting and one corner and the tip are slightly bent. The replacement shaft is good with scattered scratches and dings overall.
