Description:

1) The flintlock tester's lock plate and action components are floral scroll engraved. The lock plate is signed, possibly "Baftie/Guyten". The rotating scale is graduated from 1 to 19. The trigger guard has a light engraving. Fitted with a smooth walnut stock featuring a flared butt. 2) The Miquelet tester's rotating scale is graduated from 1 to 14. The side plate and trigger guard are engraved brass. The action components feature a light engraving. There are no maker markings. The stock has a plain brass band at the tip and a chiseled overlay on the flat butt. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

1) Good. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina. The stock is very good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. 2) Fair. The metal surfaces have a bright appearance showing some minor pitting. The revarnished, repaired stock is good with some minor handling marks. Action is very tight.
