Manufactured in 1883, New York engraved with broad scroll patterns on the barrel sides, cylinder flats and frame. There is a floral design on the top of the back strap and scallop and dot design on the back strap. The top of the barrel is marked with the short two line address "COLT D.A. 41" on the left side in an etched panel, the three-line, three-patent date marking appears on the left side of the frame and "41 CAL." is marked on the left rear of the trigger guard bow. The trigger guard and back strap are miss-matched (serial number 42621). Blade front and frame notch rear sights, nickel finish with niter blue trigger and screw heads, and fitted with smooth ivory grips. Colt's first attempt at manufacturing a double action revolver, the Lightning and Thunderer were manufactured from 1877 to 1909.

Very fine as New York embellished with 90% nickel finish remaining, showing some minor pitting on the cylinder and frame edges around the cylinder. The grips are fine with some minor age cracking and a pleasant aged patina. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is fine.
